Unifi,
the finance union has suspended an industrial action ballot at the Lloyds TSB
call centre in Newcastle after reaching a ‘significant breakthrough’ with the
bank.
The
union was calling for industrial action after Lloyds TSB announced its
intention to close down and outsource 1,000 jobs to India.
Lloyds
has said it will offer a job to anyone in the Newcastle Contact Centre who
wishes to remain in the employment of the bank.

Unifi
negotiator, Bernadette Fisher, said: "We are delighted the bank has made this
offer. This is the best Christmas present staff will get."
