Fears that hundreds of jobs at a London council will be moved to northern England have been expressed by an angry trade union leader.
Islington Council plans to relocate up to 100 jobs in its parking services and contact departments to Greater Manchester.
The GMB union is leading a demonstration against the move on Thursday evening at Islington Town Hall.

Vaughan West, GMB branch secretary, said: “Both GMB and Unison believe that this could be the thin end of the wedge and that in the future more and more may be moved out of the Borough of Islington to other parts of the country.
“GMB and Unison believe that these proposals will limit the opportunities for local people to work for the council, and for school leavers from Islington schools and colleges to have career opportunities.”
