Wagamama, the noodle bar chain, has appointed its first HR director in a bid to make strategic people management a central part of its aggressive expansion plans. Glyn House joins the company from Sainsbury’s as Wagamama plans to double the number of restaurants it has in the UK to 66 in the next two years. House said the company would start the process by adjusting its training needs to give managers a more strategic outlook. “We will be doing more bespoke training and development solutions for about 50 managers – centred on leadership, planning and customer service,” he told Personnel Today.
