Stress in the workplace is the single biggest cause of absenteeism in the UK, according to a new study.
The issue has been highlighted in a report by Henderson Global Investors entitled Stress: An Epidemic in the UK’s Workplace?
The report produced by Henderson’s Sustainable & Responsible Investment (SRI) team coincides with the Health & Safety Executive releasing new standards tomorrow for the measurement and management of stress.
Jane Goodland, senior analyst in Henderson’s SRI team, said: “The way employers promote well-being in the workplace is a key factor in our SRI company evaluation process.
“The impact of stress in the workplace means investors need to understand and encourage high standards.”
