Book your place at IOSH 06

Lord Hunt of Kings Heath, the minister responsible for health and safety at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), will give the opening keynote address at this year’s IOSH 06 Conference and Exhibition.

The event takes place at the ExCeL Centre in London on 13-14 March and among the parallel sessions on the second day is a strand on OH issues, with presentations on employee health and wellbeing, OH surveillance, fatigue at work and effective interventions for employees with common mental health problems.

This year’s theme is ‘Health and safety: fit for business’ and the opening day will close with a public debate involving panellists including Jonathan Rees, deputy chief executive, policy, at the HSE and Carol Undy, national chairman at the Federation of Small Businesses.

Other plenary sessions include HSE chief executive Geoffrey Podger, HSC commissioner Dr Sayeed Khan, Dr Bill Gunnyeon, chief medical adviser at the DWP, and Prof Duncan Christie-Miller from Warwick University Business School who will look to the future.

For the first time at an IOSH Conference, sessions designed specifically for SMEs covering the basics of health and safety will be run throughout the conference. Led by experts from Quadriga, the sessions offer an interactive, hands-on learning environment on nuts and bolts issues that practitioners have to deal with on a daily basis.

Parallel sessions throughout the event will cover stress, ergonomics and training standards, while there will also be specialist group networking meetings, spotlight presentation theatres and a health and safety exhibition.
