Strathclyde Partnership for Transport could axe HR director post in restructure

Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), Scotland’s largest transport authority, will vote this week on plans to cut four senior posts, including that of HR director.

The move would save £110,000 and leave the company with seven senior staff.

According to BBC Scotland, it is part of a wider restructuring, with the potential to affect overall staff numbers.

SPT employs 700 people and on Friday will decide whether to approve proposals to cut the number of directors from eight to four. This would involve the current directors of HR, communications, and property, policy and strategy taking up “revised senior posts”. The operations director post, currently vacant, will not be filled.

Gordon Maclennan, SPT chief executive, said: “The plans are based on our decision to streamline the management structure against an expected future reduction in public sector funding.”
