Andrew McDonald has been appointed the new chief executive for Government Skills, the sector skills council for central government.
Government Skills covers the skills and development of about half a million civil servants and one-quarter of a million Armed Forces personnel.

McDonald will be responsible for directing the work of the council, ensuring it meets the needs of employers in central government. They will be looking for the council to take the lead in developing a common approach to learning and development issues.
McDonald’s previous experience includes working in a range of policy and operational delivery posts in central government.
