Arc Recruitment launches SOS division

by Personnel Today 5 Feb 2010
by Personnel Today 5 Feb 2010

Arc Recruitment is launching a new online recruitment division, Specialist Online Solutions (S.O.S) – to provide businesses with a flexible, cost effective solution to their recruitment needs.

S.O.S will run alongside Arc Recruitment and offers a purely online solution.  Companies can forward their vacancy online using the dedicated website and S.O.S. will post that vacancy on at least five specialist job boards over a period of four weeks.  The CV’s will be filtered by S.O.S in line with the original brief and forwarded on to the client who can then make an informed decision about who they want to interview, so no time is wasted meeting with candidates that are unsuitable for the role.

Research conducted on Arc Recruitment’s website – www.arc-recruitment.co.uk – throughout November 2009 indicated that 67% of the small to medium sized companies surveyed slashed their recruitment budgets by over half last year. Just 16% of respondents said that they would be recruiting during the first half of 2010. While lack of funds was a major issue, reduced head count due to recruitment freezes also now means that many staff simply do not have the time to go through the process of finding new employees with the right skills. S.O.S was launched by Arc Recruitment in direct response to the research findings.

Helena Arcangelo, Director of Arc Recruitment and S.O.S, said: “Our research showed that there is a real need among businesses at the moment for a low cost alternative to traditional recruitment services that does not compromise on quality. We have been in the recruitment industry for over a decade, and will be bringing our considerable expertise and experience to the S.O.S proposition.

“Businesses can either opt for a purely online solution or we will be able to provide a mix of web based and more traditional methods – they can choose the solution that best fits their budget and their needs.

“The danger at the moment is that businesses have been so focused on making it through the recession, that they have lost track of their skills requirement. However, it is vital that they have the right people in place at the right time to ensure that when the economic conditions begin to improve they are well placed to make a speedy and sustainable recovery. Due to cost cutting exercises and lack of resources recruitment standards have suffered, and this could actually mean that it takes the UK longer to emerge from the recession. Services like S.O.S will enable companies to source the skilled staff they need to safeguard their short and long-term success.”
