Asda
is to advertise in The Stage magazine to recruit 100 actors to entertain
shoppers as they walk around the stores.
Sally
Hopson, Asda’s director of customer services, said the actors would be used as
greeters.
“Greeters
give the first impression of Asda when a customer walks through our doors.
“If
we can find someone who can make our customers smile and their shopping trip
more fun, then that’s what we’ll do,” she said.
Greeters
will not just meet shoppers as they arrive but also help with customer queries,
update people on the latest offers and announce what is new in the store.
Asda
already has a number of “resting” actors on its team, including Rocky Ball who
does impersonations of Lily Savage and Tina Turner at its store in Bodmin,
Cornwall.
