More than 500 managers at BT are to take part in a new centralised coaching programme next week.
The scheme, launched by corporate psychologists YSC, aims to ensure that the managers’ business activities are more closely aligned to company objectives. YSC will work with BT to help manage a single, global approach to the coaching programme and oversee objective-setting and business impact.

Andy Binns, head of learning and development at BT, said: “Coaching is one of the strongest tools we have for helping leaders develop. In reality, coaching is a bit like fishing. There are so many ways to do it and endless arguments about which way works best, everyone has an individual approach. This new service will give us a way of getting facts on the impact coaches are having.”
Kevin Bright, director of YSC’s centre of excellence in executive coaching, Psynergy, said: “BT’s innovative decision signals a move in the coaching market. I predict that more organisations are going to want to take a hard look at their coaching provision and that centralised or co-ordinated services will become increasingly the norm.”
