The first ‘Recharge HR’ workshop takes place on 7th May, developed in response to feedback that emerged in the free and informal East Anglia HR Forum regular meetings, helping HR professionals re-ignite their working life.
Cambridge 21 April 2009 – It’s time for HR managers to get fired up. Because, with so many conflicting demands on their time – dealing with the human consequences of downsizing one minute, helping managers motivate their teams to perform the next – it’s no wonder the fires are going out. That’s why Cambridge-based HR performance specialists Engauge is launching ‘Recharge HR,’ a new series of half-day workshops promising to re-ignite HR professionals.
Engauge Director Vandy Massey said, “Since the downturn took hold, two themes have started to emerge. First, the pressures on HR people have gone through the roof. Second, the HR team’s critical role is to motivate and energise business teams under pressure – but who’s motivating and energising them?”
“We are constantly talking with HR managers who tell us that their typical day looks something like this: ‘I spent the morning telling good people the bad news that there isn’t a job for them anymore. And in the afternoon a department manager called in a panic to ask how I can help her motivate and retain critical staff. I’ve got to do both those things well, but I feel like I’m running on empty.’ This has become such a common scenario we knew that we needed to do something to support and re-energise HR Professionals”, Massey explained.
Recharge HR is an anti-dote to HR burn-out, providing tools for HR professionals to energise and motivate themselves, their teams and the wider organisation. The style will be relaxed and informal, a half day workshop led by experienced facilitators. Massey explained, “HR people are under a lot of pressure right now. They are right on the front line for both managing cutbacks and keeping staff motivated, so the last thing they need is another ‘chalk and talk’ session.”
Delegates will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and collect top tips from their peers, increasing their own support network by making connections with like-minded professionals. The first workshop will take place on 7th May, with early bird discounts available for bookings by the end of April. The venue is Cambridge Galleries, helping to underline the fact that ‘Recharge HR’ will be a vibrant, dynamic and creative experience.
