Card processor TSYS selects Cezanne Software for strategic HR software solutions

by Personnel Today 17 Feb 2010
by Personnel Today 17 Feb 2010

TSYS is one of the world’s largest payment services companies, offering a broad range of payment technologies to financial institutions across the globe. TSYS has customers across Europe, who are supported from TSYS’ European Head Office, located in York, UK.

TSYS continues to grow, in terms of locations and employees, so TSYS contacted Cezanne for a HR solution that will help them to better manage and develop their people on an international basis.

TSYS’ global headquarters are based in Georgia, USA and TSYS is separated into 3 business segments: Merchant Services, North America Services and International Services. TSYS International Services is a rapidly expanding part of TSYS, now employing over 2,900 employees. The Human Resources function has evolved over this period to support TSYS operations across a number of different countries, including the UK, Cyprus, India, Russia, Malaysia, Netherlands, Spain and Dubai. Cezanne Software is to supply solutions to enable the company to manage all aspects of HR, including performance management and employee development. Cezanne’s HR systems were selected for their multi-lingual capabilities, and for the company’s strong track record in implementing international HR software solutions.

After a stringent procurement process, TSYS has purchased People, Recruitment, Training and Organization Charting modules from Cezanne.  The software will cover core HR administration including vacancies, pre-employment checks, inductions, sickness, absence monitoring, holiday management, expat and secondment details, pay and benefits. The software will also be used to support TSYS’ talent management processes including annual employee performance reviews, learning and development, tracking aspirations and to help identify employees training needs.

Andrea Steadman, Senior Director – HR at TSYS commented: “TSYS, in common with many companies today, operates in a global economy. Companies increasingly need to operate in all corners of the world, which has presented many new challenges for business and in human resource management in particular.”

“Our people and values are vital to our success, especially as we continue to grow rapidly, and our aim is to become an employer of choice. We needed a system that would help support our people objectives across all of our operations. Therefore, identifying the right HR software solution with international capabilities was an extremely important decision for the business.”

Kate Lingham, HR Manager commented: “Operating in 8 countries meant that we needed to identify a system that would be able to improve the visibility of TSYS’ HR data to support strategic HR initiatives such as the allocation and leverage of talent. Cezanne’s dynamic dashboard reporting will help TSYS achieve this. Also, the fact that Cezanne’s HR software supports multiple languages on a single instance of the product means that when we role out employee and manager self service to different countries, such as The Netherlands, Cyprus, Spain and Russia, the system has the capabilities to automatically display the application in that specific language. Furthermore, a critical requirement for us is to be able to hold salaries, allowances and bonuses in Sterling, Euros, US Dollars, Roubles, and Rupees, which Cezanne’s software will allow us to do. We will also be able to report all salaries and allowances in Sterling or US dollars, so that we have a standard framework for comparing HR costs across the business.”

Cezanne Software’s workflow engine is embedded in the product and will provide TSYS with the ability to have workflows for their most common HR activities. Workflow will help TSYS to increases staff efficiency, visibility, individual accountability and above all reduces costs. The workflow engine will incorporate an approvals mechanism with up to two levels of approval and will cover key processes around induction, holiday requests and security clearance checks.

Before making the decision, TSYS spoke with two of Cezanne’s customers and had a detailed ‘hands-on’ day to try out the functionality of Cezanne’s HR and talent management software. Kate Lingham commented: “After the in-depth presentations that we received from all of the suppliers, the TSYS project team had already decided that Cezanne’s HR solution would be the best one for them. However, it is always important to receive independent views from suppliers’ customers and the conversations that we had confirmed that our decision was the right one. Cezanne’s philosophy is based on a partnership and consultative approach with their customers and for TSYS this is crucial. We are investing in the future and we look forward to making that journey with Cezanne.”

Julie Windsor, UK Operations Director at Cezanne Software said: “Cezanne is delighted to work with TSYS and help them to address the challenges that many international companies face. We believe that our experience in this marketplace and the strengths of our HR system for international deployments makes us well placed to help TSYS’ HR team to support their broader HR and organizational goals.”
