The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) is introducing a new qualification to replace its Certificate in Personnel Practice (CPP).
The new Certificate in HR Practice (CHRP) will be rolled out from January 2010, and is designed to be more up to date, have greater flexibility, and ensure business focus is put first.
According to Stephanie Bird, director of HR capability at the CIPD, the former CPP was taken from old professional standards, and the institute was getting feedback that the course was “slightly out of alignment” with the HR world.

“We recognised we needed to reshape the qualification, building strategy insights and a solutions piece in right from the early stages,” Bird told Personnel Today.
The course falls under the new HR Profession Map, announced in April, which comprises 10 professional areas at four key levels.
