Thousands of workers at the steel firm Corus are to be balloted on whether to take industrial action over plans to close the group’s final salary pension scheme to new entrants, the BBC has reported.
Community, Unite and GMB unions decided at a meeting in London to oppose the proposed pension scheme changes.
The opposition comes after Corus announced earlier this year that it was to cut more than 4,500 jobs at its UK plants, including those in Scunthorpe, Teesside, Rotherham and Port Talbot.
