Derbyshire Dales District Council has been awarded the Investors in People standard after completing a successful assessment in December 2004.
The standard is a government initiative which sets a level of good practice for improving an organisation’s performance through its employees.
To achieve the standard an organisation must show that it is committed to improving the learning and development opportunities for employees.
This includes both training courses, how the organisation communicates with employees and the opportunities for employees to develop within their roles.
Leader of the council Lewis Rose said: “This Investors in People standard acknowledges the commitment of the employees to continuous learning and development so that the service we provide continues to improve.

“I am very proud of our employees and the dedication they have shown by achieving this standard.”
To retain the standard the district council will be reviewed every three years and must show that it is continuing to improve learning and development opportunities for employees.
