The
Government has agreed to use new technology in a bid to secure better
information about gridlock on the UK’s roads.
The
Department for Transport (DfT) will use data from the satellite navigation
systems of more than 50,000 vehicles and produce detailed reports on the
pattern and location of road congestion.
The
information will then be used to identify traffic hot spots and developing a
strategy to combat congestion.
