NHSU,
the new corporate university for health and social care, has announced that it
will work with the NHS Leadership Centre to set up a school of leadership,
management and improvement within the university.
Penny
Humphris, the director of the NHS Leadership Centre, will be working part-time
for NHSU as the interim director of the school alongside her current role.
The
school will bring together expertise in both teaching and research in
leadership, management and improvement.
Humphris
said: "The development of excellence in leadership, management and
improvement are a priority if we are going to create real change in health and
social care.
"Leaders
and managers from all backgrounds are pivotal to good service delivery and also
act as a gateway through which other staff can find out about or take up
learning opportunities."

NHSU
has also announced the appointment of Dr David Percy as interim director of a
new school of inter-professional care. This school will lead research and
teaching for staff who have the closest relationship with the public.
