Jarvis jobs at risk as railway contractor goes into administration

Up to 2,000 jobs are at risk at railway contractor Jarvis after it entered into administration yesterday, the Independent has reported.

The RMT union has called on the contractor to offer assurances that jobs will be protected, and has also requested the government steps in to stop the decline of the UK rail industry.

The group has blamed cutbacks at its primary client, Network Rail, for the collapse and potential job cuts.
