Marks
& Spencer has accused staff at its Reading store of stealing from the tills
and called for colleagues to inform on one another.
It
also sent branch employees a letter with their payslips asking them to shop in
any colleagues they suspect are the culprits.
The
letter, plus a message on the branch noticeboard, states that the amounts being
taken are substantial and that every employee, including managers, are under
suspicion until the thieves are found.
Bella
Pagden, a spokesperson for M&S denied that employees feel they are being
unfairly accused. “Staff are concerned that there is an issue and they want to
resolve it,” she said.
