In
an unusual move, Britian’s biggest building society, Nationwide, is using
newspaper adverts to try and recruit a non-executive director.
Advertisements
have also been placed in the Society’s branches and on the Internet in an
attempt to "widen the net" of applicants and "find and meet
people who would not normally apply", Nationwide said.
Nationwide
aims to carry out interviews for the £30,000 position in February, and make an
appointment in March 2002.
Charles
Nunneley, Nationwide’s chairman, said: "The needs of our members lie at
the heart of everything we do. It is essential that we maintain and build on
this highly focused approach. We are aiming to secure the best possible
candidate by offering as many people as possible the chance to apply.
