PeopleChecking appoints new Head of Business Development

by Personnel Today 22 Oct 2009
by Personnel Today 22 Oct 2009

Mathew Armstrong has been appointed to the newly created position of Head of Business Development at leading background checking solutions company PeopleChecking.

PeopleChecking, part of global HR software and services provider NorthgateArinso, created this appointment in response to the rapid growth of the PeopleChecking business unit (which tripled revenues and exceed all other goals in the year to 20 April 2009).

Mat’s focus will initially be on large employers in the financial, professional, telecommunication and utility sectors although he is confident PeopleChecking can offer a value proposition to any business employing staff.

“Identity and CV fraud is a major issue for many businesses right now. Any firm employing staff with regular access to customer’s personal data cannot afford to be hiring without checking their background first” explains Mat.

“One of the main reasons I joined PeopleChecking is because of the unique proposition we have amongst background checking businesses in Europe. Having invested in our own web-based technology to support the screening process, unnecessary paperwork is eliminated and response times are improved. It also enables businesses to improve the candidate experience and reduce costs.” he concludes.

Mat has a history of working in HR consultancy, most recently as the senior Business Development Manager for the background checking division of the UK’s largest consumer credit agency (Experian). He has also held a number of other senior business development roles and holds an MBA.

George Elkington, managing director at PeopleChecking comments “We are very excited about Mat joining PeopleChecking in October. He has a strong reputation within the background screening industry and I am sure he will be an asset to the team”
