Recommendations issued to attract women into engineering

A
report commissioned by Secretary of State for Trade and Industry Patricia
Hewitt has issued a series of recommendations to improve the recruitment and
retention of female engineers and scientists.

The
Baroness Greenfield report was designed to look at ways of tackling the gender
gap in science, engineering and technology.

In
the report, Greenfield claims that under-representation of women in science is
damaging the UKs global competitiveness.

Her
recommendations include:

support for employers to deliver culture change

support for individual women scientists and engineers

new policy to create an inclusive, modern working environment
