Softworld HR & Payroll Solutions – exhibition preview

by Personnel Today 17 Sep 2008
by Personnel Today 17 Sep 2008

This year’s Softworld HR & Payroll Solutions show is being held at London’s Olympia 2 in Kensington on 14-15 October. This free exhibition offers an opportunity to see and test-drive the latest HR and payroll software, get expert advice and update your IT knowledge.

What’s new?

Exhibitors at next month’s show will be showcasing a range of recently launched products. These include:

Artisiam Software will be launching Time By Text, a revolutionary system with a unique approach to the collection of timesheet data, reducing costs and increasing revenues by enabling agency staff to submit weekly timesheets by text message.

Anacomp will be launching its Recruitment Software Service, which manages advert placement, selection, interview, and appointment processes, including Criminal Record Bureau checks. Anacomp will also be presenting docHarbor Personnel Records Repository online document management service – possibly the largest of its type in the world – for the storage of regulated documents.

Cascade will release Version 3.0 of its groundbreaking net browser-based HR solution. Version 3.0 heralds the arrival of more innovative features ranging from Outlook diary integration to an appraisals system with RAG charting and Cascade’s latest online recruitment module.

Frontier Software will be launching an internet option for Chris21, its fully integrated payroll & HR solution, enabling the user to access all its rich interface features while using the same secure communication as used between web browsers and web servers.

NorthgateArinso, will also be showcasing its PeopleChecking service, which enables employers to make thorough checks of CVs and candidate references. PeopleChecking can verify employment history, academic qualifications and professional memberships, as well as financial and criminal records, and driving licence endorsements.

PAS will be showcasing its market-leading P11D software package, P11D Organiser, as well as providing a first look at ITS products currently being used by customers in the Republic of Ireland, where Payrolling of Benefits legislation has been in place since 2004.

Snowdrop will be demonstrating its latest major release: v5.4, of all modules. New functionality includes: improvements to online appraisals, more flexibility in objective management and the facility for alternate managers to sign off employee absences online.

Patersons will be demonstrating its International Payroll Workflow and Integrated Treasury Management service, which solves the challenges of international payroll. This innovative technology allows checking and authorisation of payroll data globally, providing mainframe links to Citicorp and Wachovia Banks, enabling local or international ACH (automated clearing house) or wire transfer payment authorisation directly from Logon2 after payroll processing.

Masterclasses

This October, Softworld’s masterclasses provide information and real-life case studies on the latest issues and solutions. The free 45-minute sessions will offer expert advice on choosing the correct software for your business and managing the implementation project. Here are some of the keynote speakers this year:

Karen Thomson, associate director of policy, Institute of Payroll Professionals, will present a session covering legislation now and in the future. Are you aware of the Equal Treatment Directive and its implications? What about the proposals to student taxation or the Scottish tax system? If your answer is no, then come along and learn all about them.

Rob Waugh-Bacchus, HR systems project manager at Macmillan Publishers, covers software selection, implementation and more. How do you decide on the best HR solution for your organisation and achieve successful implementation? Learn about the issues that need to be addressed to make your new solution a success.

Andy Crossey, vice-president and head of HR consulting at Capgemini, presents a session exploring absence management and asks if technology really can help – or make matters worse. Technology can be a valuable aid, but what else do you need? The session includes a revealing case study and some practical idea and tips.

Christine Musty, HR consultant for Masterlease UK, discusses how online systems can devolve responsibility and reduce HR admin. She also explains how to roll out an online system effectively to line managers and employees for optimum buy-in.

Exhibitor seminars

Alongside the masterclass programme, individual exhibitors run product-specific seminars – also free – with case studies, demos and the opportunity to discuss your own software problems and queries face to face with the experts.

Softworld buyers’ guide

All pre-registered visitors to Softworld receive the free buyers’ guide, packed with product information, market overviews, case studies and exhibitor listings.
