Workers
on London’s tube system are ready to go on strike again, this time in support
of sacked colleagues.
Members
of the RMT union voted by five to one to support employees who were sacked
after beer cans were found in a mess room.
The
RMT executive will meet later today to discuss what further action to take.
RMT
general secretary Bob Crow said if the workers were not reinstated serious
disruption could follow.
"Reports
from our members show an overwhelming support for strike action. All the people
sacked were tested and these tests proved negative for alcohol. There is not a
shred of evidence which says these men are guilty," he said.
The
union has written an open letter to Metronet, the company who employed the men,
highlighting its concerns about the case.
