Ernst & Young is celebrating double success in this year’s Business in the Community’s Big Tick awards.
The Big Four professional services firm was listed in both the Workplace Impact and Community Impact categories.
The Big Tick is awarded to companies able to demonstrate excellence in the way that they organise and integrate their responsible business practices and who can show a positive impact both on society and on the business.
Ernst & Young received a Big Tick for improving the health and wellbeing of its people in the Healthy Workplace Award.
It also received a Big Tick for the second year in a row for its education partnership programme in the Raising Achievement in Young People Award category.
The firm currently partners with 14 schools across the UK and promotes and encourages entrepreneurship among young people.
In the same week, Ernst & Young also became a Platinum member of the Business in the Community’s Top 100 Companies for Corporate Responsibility, recognised for ‘continuing to make great strides in becoming a more diverse and inclusive organisation’.
Mike Cullen, Ernst & Young People and Clients managing partner, said:
“This is a tremendous achievement for Ernst & Young. We are delighted to receive the Big Tick once again for our education partnership programme and thrilled to be recognised for the work we are doing to improve the health and wellbeing of our people.”
“We are committed to the health and wellbeing of our people. It’s what makes us more attractive as an employer, more effective as an advisor, and more efficient as a business.
“We invest much resource into listening to our staff and providing them with the best working environment possible. The fact that the Healthy Workplace Award Big Tick was decided by a panel of independent, experienced practitioners demonstrates just how vigorously assessed we were against other UK companies.”

“I congratulate all the winners of a Big Tick this year. It is fantastic to see so many strong examples of responsible business practice. The Big Tick is now recognised as both a valuable and difficult award to achieve.
“Those who achieve the Big Tick are leading companies, ones that run their businesses aware that they depend above all on the talent, innovation and loyalty of their people. They know that they cannot build a successful sustainable business without constantly showing their commitment to being a better business.”
