Voluntary organisations bullish about the future

Confidence in recruitment and retention is growing in voluntary sector organisations, according to a new survey.

The salary survey conducted by Renumeration Economics in association with the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO) found that more than 40 per cent of voluntary organisations predict an increase in full-time staff over the next year compared to just 24.8 per cent a year ago.

Only 6.4 per cent predict a fall in full-time staff over the same period compared to 17.6 per cent last year.

This growth in paid staff will mean voluntary organisations need to have an increased HR infrastructure in place, according to the NCVO.

Stuart Etherington, chief executive of NCVO, said: “Despite the growth in the number of employees and employers, it is clear that the voluntary infrastructure needs to do more to support those responsible for the HR function in voluntary organisations.”
