Food manufacturer Birds Eye is shedding almost 500 jobs at its fish foods factory in Hull.
The company said the closure was caused by “excess capacity in its supply chain” and it is relocating the production of its fish foods range to Bremerhaven, Germany, and Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Chief executive Martin Glenn announced the news yesterday.
Birds Eye said it would consult with unions about the decision, which involves 490 redundancies.
The GMB union said it would campaign against the move.
