The BBC has announced that Valerie Hughes-D’Aeth will lead the corporation’s People Division from August 2014, replacing Lucy Adams who left earlier this month.
Hughes-D’Aeth has more than 30 years’ HR experience and is currently group HR and communications director for Amey, the £2.3 billion public-services contractor with 21,000 employees, and will continue to do so until the end of July.

As BBC director of HR, Hughes-D’Aeth will report to Anne Bulford, managing director of finance and operations.
Hughes-D’Aeth said: “I am thrilled to be taking on this role at this exciting time for the BBC and look forward to working with such creative, talented people.”
Welcoming Hughes-D’Aeth, Bulford said: “I look forward to Valerie joining us, bringing with her a wealth of experience from a long and successful career in HR.”
During a speaking event today, following her departure from the BBC, Adams has criticised the annual appraisal process.
