Keep age out of it and let experience do the talking

As HR professionals, we are encouraged to remove the requirement to state a date of birth from application forms.

So why doesn’t Geoff Evans (Letters, Personnel Today, 8 August) do the same with his CV and remove his date of birth, or references to his age, such as dates examinations were taken, etc?

A prospective employer would then have to sift his application based purely on his experience and knowledge of the role, as any good employer should.
