Motorola is cutting 4,000 more jobs
on top of the 22,000 staff reductions it has already announced.
The US electronics manufacturer says
the jobs will be lost across its three businesses: the commercial, government
and industrial solutions; the global telecommunications solutions sector and
broadband communications sector.
Workers affected by the job cuts
will be told by the end of the second quarter, said Motorola.
It added, "The specific timing
of actions will depend upon legal or regulatory requirements in various
countries."
Edward Breen, president of
Motorola’s networks sector said, "Unfortunately, reduction have been
necessary for us to improve financial performance."
