NHS Employers has announced new chairpersons that will represent employers at negotiations on doctors’ terms and conditions.
Ann MacIntyre, HR director at Barts and the London NHS Trust has agreed to chair the joint negotiating committee (seniors) on behalf of employers.
Stephen Griffin will be the employers chairman for the joint negotiating committee (juniors). He is executive director of personnel and development at County Durham & Darlington Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
The two joint negotiating committees, made up of representatives from the British Medical Association, the four UK Health Departments and NHS Employers, meet several times a year to discuss terms and conditions for hospital doctors and dentists and doctors working in public health medicine and the community health service.
NHS Employers head of pay and negotiations Gill Bellord said: “It will be the first time that the chairs have been representatives from the NHS. In the past, the negotiations have been chaired by Department of Health civil servants.”
