The
Transport & General Workers Union (T&G) is embarking on a massive
membership drive to end the decline of union influence.
The
‘100 per cent’ campaign aims to ensure that all employees in the thousands of
T&G-organised workplaces around the country are signed up to the union.
The
union hopes initiative could result in the recruitment of tens of thousands of
new members, and a stronger bargaining position for union members in the
T&G’s core areas of manufacturing, transport, services and the food
industry.

Tony
Woodley, general secretary of the T&G, said that the drive was not about
building a bigger T&G for the sake of it, but about giving members the
muscle to win in the workplace.
