A woman pilot is claiming British Airways has sexually discriminated against her by not allowing her to extend her part-time working. Jessica Starmer – who currently works 75 per cent of the full-time hours – wanted to further reduce her hours so that she could look after her one-year-old daughter Beth. The 26-year-old, who is married to a BA pilot, told the BBC Online that her job should not be “incompatible” with motherhood. A BA spokeswoman told the BBC the airline “limited part-time work to 75 per cent in cases where a pilot’s experience fell short of the required number of flying hours”.
