Demand for Prospects Directory soars as graduates fear unemployment

Demand for Graduate Prospects’ flagship product, Prospects Directory has hit record levels as students and graduates fear unemployment.

Tens of thousands of copies have been requested by careers advisors this year following a rise in students seeking support and information about potential job opportunities.

In response, 90% of the 100,000 copies of Prospects Directory published in September have been reserved for those university careers services who specifically request them. 

Les Waters, Careers Adviser at Cambridge University Careers Service says: “The Prospects Directory is one of the ‘must have’ publications for finalists and a useful career choice tool for those in earlier years who are looking at the graduate employment market. Nearly a thousand copies leave our shelves each year.”

New for 2009 and complementing the company information will be the widely-anticipated results of Real Prospects, the first survey to reveal the realities of graduate programmes.

Experts in careers advice tailor content to the market each year and the new edition will also include comprehensive information sources for SMEs, the public sector and voluntary organisations. 

Chris Rea, publishing manager at Graduate Prospects says: “At present, Prospects Directory tells students what they need to do to get a graduate job and where those jobs are. With the addition of Real Prospects survey data, the 2009 edition will also be able to tell them what it’s actually like to work for a graduate employer.”

Businesses have until 26 June 2009 to feature in Prospects Directory.

The advertising package includes organisational profiles on prospects.ac.uk, the UK’s official graduate careers website that generated a record month for traffic in March 2009 with over one million views on its job pages. It has become the number one graduate recruitment directory for profile-raising amongst this niche audience.
