HR + leading the way to business success

by Personnel Today 9 Jul 2009
by Personnel Today 9 Jul 2009

Although the recent recession has impacted on businesses’ ability to recruit new talent, Ashford based HR Consultancy, HR + Ltd, explains how employers must focus on investing in other opportunities, such as training, personal progression and the career development of their retained workforce to ensure they have the specialist skills required to enhance business performance.

And what better way to start than for businesses to take advantage of the Train to Gain initiative which enables eligible staff to gain qualifications at no cost to the employer. HR + works in partnership with the Learning Skills Council on the Train to Gain initiative and is currently handling 300 learners from businesses throughout the South East of England on a number of courses including the City and Guilds NVQ Level 2 in Customer Service which is very much in demand.

HR + has recently delivered their fifth programme of the Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 2 NVQ in Team Leading. All course attendees from four of the South East’s leading businesses achieved the valuable, nationally recognised work-based NVQ qualification. The six unit qualification included inspirational leadership, motivating the unmotivated and the power of setting goals.

“Effective team leadership is a vital ingredient in the pursuit of high performance”, explains Hugh Billot, HR + Managing Director. “This qualification will assist the managers to be better equipped and more skilled team leaders in the workplace and their capability to lead productivity improvement programmes will be much improved.”

“Train to Gain is a government initiative to help businesses obtain the training they need to succeed and is a great opportunity, especially in today’s climate, for businesses to invest in their staff and ensure staff have the right skills to do the best job even if things are financially tight. Some businesses are not aware that for many employees courses can be fully funded by this scheme”, explains Hugh Billot.

“Every company should be committed to investing in the professional development of its staff as well as the continual improvement of business performance and customer service.”

HR+ is a professional people development, training and HR consultancy, staffed with experts who have track records of high performance achievement and who are capable of adding value to organisations. They offer a range of services to clients from large scale, accredited, training programmes to on-site performance enhancing training courses and workshops to specialist, bespoke HR advice through retained services or projects. HR+ also provides HR outsourced services to about 60 companies.
