Insurance firm Royal & Sun Alliance (R&SA) has completed a 10-year, £92m-rated deal with T-Systems, the business customer unit of Deutsche Telekom, to outsource its IT and printing operations.
T-Systems will run two R&SA print facilities in Birkenhead (Liverpool) and Easton (Bristol) and will see 63 employees transferred to the service provider.
Shirley Campbell, UK human resource director at R&SA, said the deal would enable T-Systems to set up, on behalf of R&SA, a print transformation utility and provide similar services to other UK businesses.
“There are two immediate benefits for us: our outsourced staff will be joining a highly progressive and fast-growing business, and R&SA will be embracing best-in-class technology and printing processes,” Campbell added.
In February, T-Systems signed a 10-year IT outsourcing contract with UK energy giant Centrica.

Jan van der Merwe, chief executive at T-Systems, said: “Our IT expertise, coupled with planned upgrades of the existing facilities, means a winning solution for R&SA, the transferred staff in Bristol and Liverpool, and for us as we continue on our path to being a top 10 information and communications technology (ICT) services company in the UK.”
Earlier this month, travel group Thomas Cook signed a £192m outsourcing deal with provider Accenture.
