Postal workers union demands three-year pay increase for Royal Mail staff

A pay increase for Royal Mail workers over a three-year period was one of the demands laid out by the Communication Workers Union (CWU) at a meeting with Royal Mail bosses, according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

It added that a strike by Royal Mail workers is expected to be confirmed today unless the meeting provides a breakthrough.

Disagreement over working practices, plans to replace mail sorters with machines and the request for more flexible working hours are all issues that are being discussed.

The CWU has been backed in its attempt to negotiate a three-year pay settlement by one in 10 MPs.
