Scotland to receive jobs boost after £7m in grants

Job prospects in Scotland look set to receive a boost after the Scottish Government awarded £7m of grants to firms.

Ministers expect the funding, awarded to 24 businesses under the Regional Selective Assistance scheme, will lead to 534 new jobs in Scotland, including 241 in Glasgow, and safeguard a further 283 posts.

According to the Herald, £4.5m – 64% of the funding – will go to manufacturing firms.

The biggest single award, worth £1.98m, went to an Ayrshire-based firm that manufactures aerosol sprays for supermarkets.
