MidlandHR puts its hands in the air for Humberside Police’s payroll process

by Personnel Today 19 Nov 2009

Humberside Police, covering the districts of North-East Lincolnshire, North Lincolnshire, and the East Riding of Yorkshire, has partnered with HR, payroll and talent management specialist, MidlandHR.

The force has signed a five year contract for the Payroll Bureau Service which is underpinned by the web enabled iTrent solution and administered by a team of highly skilled payroll professionals at MidlandHR.

MidlandHR will host the iTrent system from its secure data centre in Nottingham and will facilitate the timely payment of the police service’s 6,500 people including officers, civilian staff, volunteers, police pensioners and Police Authority members. By adopting a bureau service, Humberside Police will pass on responsibility for a number of payroll processes, including that of ensuring compliance with the ever changing legislation surrounding HR and payroll.

Starting in November this year, the contract will see MidlandHR working in partnership with Humberside Police to process their monthly payroll, generating electronic pay slips and some printed pay slips as required. In addition to running BACS payments, the HR and payroll specialist will also produce and submit year end returns to HMRC, make third party payments and process year end information to be supplied to the force’s pension provider.

Commenting on iTrent’s security capabilities, Lawrence Knowles, managing director of MidlandHR said: “Payroll information is highly sensitive, which is why iTrent has the most comprehensive, flexible and robust security, gaining one of the most stringent security standards available. We are delighted to be partnering with Humberside Police and to be sharing their payroll load.”
