Rest periods

Under the Working Time Regulations 1998, workers are entitled to a minimum daily rest period and minimum uninterrupted weekly rest period.

There are a number of exclusions to the right to minimum weekly rest periods, for example in relation to shift workers when they change shift. These workers are entitled to an equivalent period of compensatory rest.
