Having polished off an entire loaf of wholemeal toasted with butter and jam this morning, Guru was both indignant and indigestioned to hear Gordon Brown telling the nation not to waste food.
Does the prime minister's ability to talk unwarranted nonsense know no bounds? Guru hardly knows where to begin.
Brown was speaking to journalists on a 14-hour flight from London to Japan. Speeding away from a country ravaged by soaring prices, heavy job cuts, gun and knife crime and a housing crisis, Brown cleared his throat and gave us his words of wisdom.
"If we are to get food prices down, we must do more to deal with unnecessary demand - such as all of us doing more to cut food waste which is costing the average household in Britain around £8 per week," he intoned.
Eight quid a week? Cut fuel tax in half and every family will be saving double that amount! Give public sector workers an inflation-matching pay rise and they'll be able to buy food they like enough to eat it all. Sort out street crime and people won't be so scared to go to the shops that they order takeaways.
With all that is going on in Britain at the moment, Guru feels quite incensed that Brown is acting like the nation's mother rather than its leader.
But besides all this - isn't the government usually bossing us about to eat less? Aren't we all too fat? Yet now we have to clear our plates because otherwise prices will go up? What?
Helping to feed the world by taking up less of global food production is a very noble cause, and one that Guru supports. There is no unnecessary demand coming from the Guru household, as this morning's breakfast testified.
However, Yours Truly feels that the people of Britain need reassurance and direction from Brown at this time - not lecturing.
If he was an HR director, Brown would be the sort to ban fatty foods from the staff canteen rather than offer bonus days off for workers who took less sick leave. In fact, if Brown was an HR director, his company would be losing workers like Labour is losing voters.
